If you have to message someone to learn the price, the price is whatever they think you'll pay. Look for a public pricing page with plain numbers.
3. Clear line rules

4. Manual renewal
Auto-renewal is where bad providers hide. Ask what happens when your plan ends. The right answer: it ends, you get a reminder, and paying again is your call.
5. A refund policy in writing

6. Support you can find twice
A site, a contact page, replies that come back. Send a pre-sales question and time the answer; that's the support you'll get as a customer, at its very best behaviour.
7. Honest quality claims
Up to 4K where the source allows it is honest. Everything, always, in the highest quality ever, is not. Overpromising on quality predicts overpromising on everything else.
8. A channel-confirmation habit
If one channel is the reason you're buying, ask them to confirm it before you pay. Good providers check and answer straight; bad ones say yes to everything.
9. Setup help that exists
Look for real device-by-device setup guides, and a human who'll walk you through it when the guide isn't enough.
10. It works at YOUR house
Coverage maps and testimonials are other people's houses. The only result that matters is your broadband, your devices, your peak hour. Which brings everything back to check number one: the trial.
